I'm Michael The lawn, your hostfor the next few minutes as we chat with financial expert and business owner JohnBrowning. Well, hello, John Browning. How's your day going today, sir? It's going the fantastic. The Sun is shining. It's starting towarm up a little bit here, which is nice. It is nice. You know, it's crazy, I you know. As you know, Ilive in a little rock right and so...

...three weeks ago I had to leaveto be able good down to Orlando. When I left it was minus oneand we had snow on the ground. Three weeks later it was it's seventytwo, sunshine. It's just amazing. Spring is sprawn. It's ready. That's right, and I'm ready. I am ready as well. So,Hey, I want to talk. Last time we talked about mistakes that peopleare making and one of the one of the questions I've always had done becauseI hear this term all the time the people throw out, and that's theterm about being financially independent. Oh yeah, and and so I've always wanted tobe there. I'm my question is, what does that really mean to befinancially independent? Right, it's probably maybe not that direct question, butbut some something similar that really means the same thing. I get asked thatquite often. I actually talk a bit about it in the book build alife, not a portfolio, and it's on page thirty three and it's calledthe snowflake theory and many people probably heard...

...that analogy before. Is that?Frankly, it's a different answer for everyone, right, as we all come fromdifferent backgrounds, we've had different life experiences. They give us different perspectiveon what de living a life we love really is. So there's a commonconcept out there that says you should know your number. Right, yes,and speaking of knowing a number that will support you in retirement. There's alot of what if is along the way and what's your number in retirement, because there's a possibility maybe we won't get there. Living Your Life until youget there is really, really important, and so we don't want to losesight of that. So is theyre going to you know, is there ahealth issue? Is there a family member issue, or what if someone orsomething that you are extremely passionate about needs...

...your health financially or time wise, they happen along the journey that can give us a detour on our road map. If you work with me, you're going to have a road map ashow you're going to get there, but there's almost always going to be adetour here and there. So being financially independent is not so much about thatparticular number. It's about having the ability and flexibility to do what you wantor what you need at any given time. And I would say that this ideaof financial independence is kind of a misnomer. I mean, there's noamount of money, unless you're Michael Jordan or or you know, name anotherone, maybe Bill Gates or Jeff Bezo's Elon Musk maybe, although elon mustcan spend it as fast as he may, but but there's really I mean unlessyou're there, I mean you know...

...there are things that can derail justabout any amount of money. So you know, just yeah, I'm notsaying that to scare people, I'm just saying keep wedding mind. Yeah, and it is a misnomer because we always think when we think financially depends,we think of those guys, right, yeah, and I've got a neighboracross the street. It runs a small company himself. His wife is anurse at a school. She's retiring in another year and she's going to havea penchant for life and he's got his retirement set up. And you talkto them, they're financially independent. They've got everything, no debt, theygot enough money for the rest of their life. Their set. They arefinancially independent. They don't have that billions of dollars. Right, right,it's really that's right. You don't and that's that's a big misnomer, right, is that? You know, I have to have a million dollars.Right, I have to have five million dollars. You know, in myexperience in most areas of the country,...

...having a million dollars is probably that'sgoing to be tough for most people. And what how most people want tolive their lives. But having five million dollars for most people, again, this is not funny. Independent financial advice never isn't. We do these becausethat takes a one on one conversation. But for most people, you know, having five million dollars might be kind of too much, unless you reallywant to build a legacy, which some people do right. Maybe you builda legacy that one for a cause or your family members or something like that. Yeah, well, and having too much money. We've done episodes onthis and that's when the relatives come and knocking and there can be more problemsin the family because you got more money. So that's not always this solution,it's not always the answer. Right the threat. How do you navigate? How do you navigate those waters? Will you have a guy like Johnand you just need to go back to that episode, The podcast episode wetalked about when the family comes in knocking,...

...because it's nice to have somebody likeJohn in your corner, who John can be the bad guy, thegood cop, bad coup thing, and he can tell them no and youjust kind of relinquish control to him say well, you need to go talkto John and that's just one element. So we've that's funny podcast on hittingus so many topics that the whole people go back and and listen through andlook through the archive on the podcast and on your podcast page. You knowthey can search and find different things because what you're what you're talking about today, is really cool about being financially independent. It's different for each person and that'swhy it's important that you reach out and talk to John and just havea conversation and built a life that you want to live, because I'm tellingyou that the life of my neighbors are living is pretty cool because they comeand go they please, they go trouble with family, they've got everything theywant. They're not, they would tell you they're not super rich. Shedon't have to be there living the life, and that's really I think. Dothey don't seem stressed? Now, I think stress as a money pressingof us, don't you think it really...

...is? And it's if you havea lot of debt, that can be extremely stressful. If it really bothersyou in the market drops and value, that could be a huge stress.Or so building your portfolio. The right way for you is so incredibly important. That's why we ask our main question is what does money mean to you? And a lot of times what happens is we end up asking because thatquestion maybe to get tripped up on that because it's kind of a weird wayto think about things. Sometimes we say, well, what does independence because whenthe answer they say, well, money means independence, money means freedom, money means flexibility. Well, what does flexibility mean to you? Whatdoes independence mean to you? And we go deeper to get to know themso that we better understand how they need to put their portfolios in there togetherin order to build their best life,...

...not just a portfolio. Yeah, well, and we always want to be about building a life, not justa portfolio, which I think is the name of your book, Right.Your am number one Amazon best selling book that people can get on Amazon,of course on candle as well, but they can reach out to you guardingrock wealth and and get a cop asking for a copy, and you'd meltit out to them because there's just so much, so much information you putin that book on and it really reveals not just information, but it revealsyour heart and who you are, and I think that's one of the coolestthing about you is who you are, and that's why I just encourage peoplereach out and have a conversation guarding rock wealthcom, schedule a call, don'tthe Zoom, call with your phone, call with you were email. Hedoes all of that, but it's talking about how to be in today's episode. How do we financially independence? Different forever person right, and that's whyI on this podcast. Yeah, as John, which is we don't givefinancial counsel or advice. We're just talking and you can dive deep with JohnAt oneonone when you reach out to him...

...at guarding rock wealthcom and just strikeup a conversation, because there's so much to this and John has been doingthis for so long. It's just like he's like a fish in water. He just knows it and that's the that's the cool thing, because he'll havequestions that you don't even think about, at least I don't. So Iappreciate it. Financially Independent, I now have the answer, John.
