How to be UP in Down Times with Preston Weeks

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Preston weeks is the author of three books and is the co-founder of Formula EQ. The most recent book is How To Be UP in Down Times. Preston is a serial entrepreneur building several successful businesses and he is now in the business of building people and businesses. His mission is to uplift people and make tomorrow a better place to live. We cover the idea of “starting” and actually taking action - how do you get started? There is a gap between learning or knowing what to do and actually doing something about it.
The idea of momentum once you get started. It is harder to take the first step and get things going and then once you have momentum and consistency moving forward things get a little easier. Get a copy of Preston's book here.

Hello everybody, and welcome to another episode of building yourlife with John Browning. Michael Delan is off today, giving himself a nice, much needed and well deserved rest, and today we've got a special guestwith us. His name is Preston weeks and I believe he's got an eventcoming up. He has three books that he's written. He's I'm really excitedto have them on the show today. He talks a lot about things thatwe've right into the idea of build your life, not just your portfolio which, as you know, is my book, and if you'd like a copy ofthat, just go out to Guardian Rock wealthcom and at the contact uspage and request one. It's an Amazon best seller and so I don't Idon't really need to sell any more books. I'm happy to send that to youjust for for sign it up. So and if you ever like totalk to me, I'm at three one, two, three, seventy two, five thousand, but without further ado, because this is a gentleman who wasa serious serial entrepreneur. He has built companies, including cars and cardealerships, I believe, and an environmentally...

...environmental company, right. Was ita renewable energy company? Yeah, renewable energy company. Him and you workedwith Marques Victor Handson on some projects, all sorts of people. Right now, though, what he is doing is he's building people as well as businesses. So, Preston love the how do you introduce yourself a little bit more? Tell Yeah, about your folks, your projects, that kind of thing. Absolutely. Thanks so much for having me. Yeah, I know thatI am a serial entrepreneur, I'm a go getter, I am a believerin the American business and you know people. You know growth and doing things andsucceeding. I started with one sixteen hundred car reinvested in myself and builtthat into a fifty million dollar year business owning fifteen different car dealerships and verticals. They came from that and so I am a serial enterpreneur. I cameat I was recruited by Mark Victor Hanson. Mark wrote chicken soup for soul booksone minute. Millionaire laddin factor sold over half a billion books and herecruited me to do his project to run renewable energy company which we started andthen I ended up selling in two thousand and nineteen. But I just Ilike helping people. It's my mission to help people. Everything I've done hasbeen involved in helping people, even back in the cars and it was enablingpeople to get to work and access and providing jobs for people to uplift humanity. And now, like you said, I build people and I build companies. I've got operations x where I build a back end of companies like MarkVictor Hanson's, where we do great projects and help things that, you know, take ideas from concept into like an online business, or I have formulaeq which is building the foundation of people. And it's my belief that if webuild the foundation of people, if I build the foundation of strength ofeveryone, if you're stronger, if you're happier, if you're healthier, everythingyou do is better. And if you are weak as a person, ifyou're feeling compromised, if you're afraid, if you're scared, if you're frustrated, if you're pissed off, whatever is...

...happening in life, life happens. You know, those things take away from the things that you do. Theytake away from your work, they take away from you as a parent,of as a friend, as a person in your community and they take awayfrom you as yourself. So it's my goal to build that, build thatfoundation of people. You know, if for Miliq to make people strong, make business strong, so we can uplift humanity and make a massive, massivechange in the world. So that's my mission. I love it. Ilove it, and there's there's a couple things that I am just kind ofdying to ask you. One of the things that happens in my business,Guardian rock wealth, is that it's difficult to get people that point where they'regoing to do the most important thing, which is start. Yeah, andyou had a great post. I saw you wrote something up on Linkedin.Tell us a little bit about about you know, just the idea. Seemsimple, right, but yeah, what one of the things that block has. So how do you get started? I guess. Well, it's funnybecause it I do coaching. I lead a group, so I have mycommunity. I run every single week and people come, we give a lastand I give support. But one of the biggest problems, so I've beenan intense learner and intense person, is proll these things into my life formy entire life. I went to my first Tony Robin Seminar Sixteen Years Old. I flew to Atlanta, I learned from him, I walked on fire. I thought I was amazing, you know. But it's it's you know, it's these things that people go and they learn and they take all thesegreat ideas, but there's a gap, there's a gap in people that I'venoticed and it's actually taking the first step. You know, a lot of peopleknow what to do, a lot of people have a lot of greatideas on what they should do or what they could do, or a lotof people go oh, yeah, this is bad for me. I knowI shouldn't be drinking this. or Oh...

...yeah, I shouldn't be spending mymoney here. I know this is a bad idea, right. Or Yeah, you know, if I woke up earlier did this differently, I makea extra million dollars a year. But people know a lot of the ideas. People have a lot of information, but people need to take action, people need to deploy it. I have a training that actually is that partof my CEO training and part of my leader training that I call life ofAction Training. But people just need to take that first step to go in, to do something, to go into, you know, make a difference,to go to go to start your business, go to write your newbook that you've got, that idea you've waited on. Go to invest inyour future, invest in your tirement, so it happens today. Go,you know, start that business plan that you've wanted to do your whole lifeand you're complaining because life stocks right now, or whatever your complaints are, andyou're not doing it and you know you need to do it. Butpeople need to take that first step in that first steps always that sometimes it'sthe most challenging thing. But what's amazing is when people do it, whenthey start to go down that road, then they real lies, okay, this isn't that harder, oh this is actually good, or Oh, I'mactually seeing the benefits and things start to roll in and then they realize, you know, what happens in life and people it's like, you know, that what whatever it is a lot of motion and you know, to getthings going, you know, to it takes the most effort. Once it'smoving, you know, it takes very little effort to keep it going. And and that's true with a lot of things that we do in life. That's true with a lot of our goals in life. You know, ifyou want to get in shape, if you want to save money, ifyou want to, you know, reach a new level. My Mantra isrelentless improvement in life. But you know, so I'm always trying to look forsomething, I'm always trying to do something better, but the hardest partis to put that you know, that...

...act into motion, to push thatball, to get it rolling down the road, to make something happen and, you know, and get it going, because once it's going, it goes. That's why, you know, people just get comfortable and what theydo. But if you get comfortable and positive action and you get comfortable andsteps that move you forward in life, then you're comfortable and you're moving inthe right direction and all fits in together. I yeah, I couldn't agree withyou more. I talk to people all the time and you know,I'll talk to anybody. So whether you're right out of college in your oractually, I have my first client, first client who isn't yet in college. She is she's the daughter of a client, wonderful young lady, andshe just started her summer job and she came up with this on her own. Hey, I can get zero percent student loans. I'm making money. Now, what if I? What if I invested that until they start chargingme interest? Right, yeah, and I was like, well, whatwe can? We could do that. You know, it had to explainthe risk. And again, this is not financial advice on building right.Yes, this is just ideas were sharing, so to speak. But she's gettingstarted and it's isn't small. Of course it's small, but it's gettingstarted. And then that next thing. It's kind of my one word thatI use is consistency. I always talked about consistent. And again, likeyou said it once, you had that initial inertia and things get moving aslong as you do some things that are consistent along the way with investing. It's consistently investing and it's consistent, consistent, good, solid portfolio management, makingsmart decisions, where rules based investing. Then it grows over time and thelonger you wait to get started, like just about anything else it itjust compounds the problem. Yeah, yeah,...

...about that a lot too. Andone of the thing that you mentioned. Their kind of goes in like Ikeep looking back at your books there, which you're really cool being up anddown times. You're like it doesn't matter, you know when things aren'tgoing well. How do you do that? Like it and show your book thereto see you. Yeah, yeah, only written one Preston. That's soyou sell. So your way ahead. Yeah. So it had to beup and down times and this whole book was formed off of an ideato help people like I do, like I get involved in so I wasactually, this is cool story. I was meeting with Mits, you produce. So Mitzi Perdu Co wrote this book with me, and I was meetingwith missy and she saying hey, press I want to write this book andgive fifty two ways to stay safe during covid because I want to. She'slike very informational about medical and things like that, but she said, myattorney's advised. Man, I can't do that because I'll get sued. Youcan't give medical advice. Nothing's proven, it's a new disease, blah, blah, Blah Blah, which is sad because information she would have given wouldhave helped alad people. But that's the society we live in. So shecouldn't say that put her too much exposure. So, advisor, I said,Mittee, I think people are going to get separated. I think we'regoing to go into lockdown, and that obviously happened, but I think peopleare going to need two of us to thrive in isolation, you know,to be up and isolation. She said, I love that idea. Let's doit still. We collaborated and we put together what came to be howto be up and down times. We put forty twos that their tools areapplicable for anyone in life to just, you know, head, live healthier, be happier, you know, all sorts of different ideas of mind, body, you know soul. There's financial ideas, everything in there to keeppeople to be up and down times, to keep that positive energy. AndI'm all about building a people and making people powerful, like I said inthe beginning. And I've got an event...

...coming up called the power of youevent, which is insane amazing. I've got all these awesome speakers coming.I've got Mark Victor Hanson, who's chicken super soul books. Got Dr JohnB Martini, who's one of the most amazing thought leaders out they've got JeffHoffman, who start price line, a bookingcom you bid all these different businesses. I've got my mind's blanking on people. I've got Jennifer K Hill. I'vegot the from x prize. So x prize funds like these crazy ideaslike let's go to space. You know they'll do a hundred million dollars ortwenty million dollars to their priors right now is to put out fire suppression andthings. And I've got Meredith Walker kind of speak. So we're coming together. Were uplifting people and you know she's the global economist for x price. But Yeah, just insane amazing people. But you know, it's all aboutbuilding people. So anyone that wants to come check out formula like eqcom andthey can, you know, sign up for the event or see what I'mup to. I can support anyone here in reaching their goals or doing anythingthat they wanted to to. Formula EQCOM. Yeah, and Formula Eq. SoI'm a car nut, and so there's like Formula One racing, butFormula Eq Eq is emotional intelligence. So it's emotional quotient, like there's Iq, intellectual intelligence, like I in sent the eq emotional intelligence. But it'sso needed because if you're off you know, you can't make good decisions. People, you know, the smartest people, fail when they're not emotionally strong, when they don't have that base. So it's comprehensive to build strong peoplethat are stable and happy that can exist in any type of function, anytype of society, make good decisions always, all the time. So it's mygoal is to help people in that way. Yeah, well, thatand you've got. So this is coming...

...up. What dates? The twentysecond of this month. So this is July, as July Twenty, second, twenty third, two day event. It's free for anyone who wants tocome. So any of your you know, anyone who sees this. Yeah, they can come and they can check it out. And Yeah, ifyou see this after the event, you know, check out Formula Que.We're always doing amazing things and amazing events to support people and support this onthe line right. Yeah, so it's online global event and I had weon my community. I usually have over twenty countries on my event. Thelast one I did we had, you know, like this. We hadover sixty five hundred people and we put it together a lot faster. Sothis one, I actually think, I'm hoping we can hit seven, mayyou know. Well, I hope we can get the six digits, youknow, in attendance on on this event. So I think it's going to begood, great. Well, I'M gonna I'M gonna check it out myself. Formula EQCOM. July, twenty two, twenty three. Yep, amazing speakers. So that's fantastic. I'm looking forward to that. But before wego, what's the very best way? Is it the best way for themto get in touch with you through at Formula Eqcom, or is there someother way that they can get in touch with you? So I actually haveI'm up to a lot of different things. So I have my company, operationsxcom. That's my business solutions company, and then formula e qcom is mykind of my human my people company. And but if you want to reachme or you want to see the deals I'm up to, I'm kindof like an iceberg. I have a lot of projects, a lot ofbig amazing things coming on. So you can go to Preston's links. ...an authorship course anyone who wants towrite their book out there. I built a course of Mark Victor Hanson towrite your best selling book and have the foundation of the best selling book, and we're doing that right now training master authors. I'm up to a hundredmillion different things, but check it out. I just want to help people.I want to make massive changes in people's lives. I want to bea reefsource to you and everyone out there that you know and anyone out therethat I can do something with to better their life, to improve their life, to make better decisions to live happier and I think if we all workon this together and then we can uplift humanity and make tomorrow a better placeto live.
