How to be UP in Down Times with Preston Weeks

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Preston weeks is the author of three books and is the co-founder of Formula EQ. The most recent book is How To Be UP in Down Times. Preston is a serial entrepreneur building several successful businesses and he is now in the business of building people and businesses. His mission is to uplift people and make tomorrow a better place to live. We cover the idea of “starting” and actually taking action - how do you get started? There is a gap between learning or knowing what to do and actually doing something about it.
The idea of momentum once you get started. It is harder to take the first step and get things going and then once you have momentum and consistency moving forward things get a little easier. Get a copy of Preston's book here.

Michael dolan is off todaygiving himself a nice much needed and well deserved rest, and today we've gota special guest with us. His name is preston weeks and i believe, he's gotan event coming up. He has three books that he's written. I'm really excitedto have them on the show. Today he talks a lot about things that weaveright into the idea of build your life, not just your portfolio which, as youknow, is my book and if you would like a copy of that, just go out to guardianrock wealth com and it to contact us page and request one. It's an amazon, best seller, and so i don't. I don't really need to sell any more books. I'mhappy to send that to you just for for signing up so and if you ever like totalk to me, i'm at three hundred two three, seven, two five thousand, butwithout further ado, because this is a gentleman who was a syria, a serialentrepreneur. He has built companies, including cars and car dealerships, i believe andand environmentally environmental...

...company right. Was it a renewableenergy company yeah renewable energy company, and you worked with markvictor handson on some projects, all sorts of people right. Now, though, what he is doing is he's building people as well as businesses, so pressin love the. How do you introduce yourselfa little bit more tell yeah about your fucks, your projects, that kind ofthing? Absolutely thanks, so much for having yeah. I know that i am a stereoentrepreneur, i'm a go getter. I am a believer in the american business andyou know people you know growth and doing things and succeeding. I startedwith one a d: sixteen hundred or car reinvested in myself and built thatinto a fifty million dollar year, business owning fifteen different carddealerships and verticals that came from that, and so i am master on stranicame out. I was recruited by mark victor hanson mark wrote, chicken suitfor sol books, one minute millionaire latin factor sold over half a billionbooks, and he recruited me to do his project to rerun renewable energycompany which we started, and then i ended up selling in two thousand andnineteen. But i just i like helping people it's my mission to help peopleeverything i've done has been involved in helping people even back in the carsit was enabling people to get to work and access in providing jobs for peopleto uplift, humanity, and now, like you said, i build people and i buildcompanies. I've got operations x where i build the back end of companies likemark rector hanson's, where we do great projects and help things you take ideasfrom concept into like an online business, or i have formula eq which isbuilding the foundation of people and it's my belief, they've. We build thefoundation of people. If i build the foundation of strength of everyone, ifyou're stronger, if you're happier, if you're healthier everything you do isbetter and if you are weak as a person, if you're feeling compromised, ifyou're afraid, if you're scared, if you're frustrated, if you're pissed offwhatever is happening in life life...

...happens. Those things take away fromthe things that you do. They take away from your work. They take away from youas a parent as a friend as a person in your community and they take away fromus yourself. So it's my goal to build that build that foundation of people. You know with formula co to make people strong make business strong, so we canuplift humanity and make a massive massive change in the world. So that'smy mission. I love it. I love it and there's there's a couple things that ihave just kind of dying to ask you. One of the things that happens in in mybusiness, guardian, rock wealth, is that it's difficult to get people thatpoint where they're going to do the the most important thing, which is startyeah and you had a great post. I saw you wrote something up on linked intell us a little bit about about you know. Just the idea seems simpleright, but yeah what one of the things that black is on. How do you get started? Iguess well it's funny, because i do coaching. I lead a group, so i have mycommunity. I run every single week and people come. We give a less and i givesupport, but one of the biggest problems, so i've been an intenselearner, an intense person. That's brought all these things into my lifefor my entire life. I went to my first tony robin seminar. I was sixteen yearsold. I flew to atlanta, i learned from him. I walked on fire. I thought i wasamazing, you know, but it's it's. You know it's these things, people go andthey learn and they take all these great ideas, but there's a gap, there'sa gap in people that i've noticed and it's actually taking the first step. You know a lot of people know what to do. A lot of people have a lot of greatideas on what they should do or what they could do, or a lot of people go.Oh yeah. This is bad for me. I know i shouldn't be drinking this or oh yeah.I shouldn't be spending my money here.

I know this is a bad idea right or yeah. You know, if i woke up earlier, did this differently? I'd make him extramillion dollars a year, but people know a lot of the ideas. People have a lotof information, but people need to take action. People need to deploy it. Ihave a training that i actually is that part of my ceo training and part of myleader training that call life of action training, but people just needto take that first up to go in to do something to go into. You know make adifference to go to go to start your business go to write your new book thatyou've got the idea. You've waited on, go to invest in your future, investingyour retirement, so it happens today. Go you know, start that business planthat you've wanted to do your whole life and you're complaining becauselife stocks right now or whatever your complaints are and you're not doing it,and you know you need to do it, but people need to take that first step inthat first steps. Always you know that sometimes it's the most challengingthing, but what's amazing is when people do it when they start to go downthat road, then they realize? Okay, this isn't that harder. Oh, this isactually good or oh, i'm actually seeing the benefits and things start toroll in and then they realize you know what happens in life and people. It'slike. You know that what whatever it is, alot of emotion and you know to get things going. You know to it, takes themost effort once it's moving, you know it takes very little effort to keep itgoing and that's true with a lot of things that we do in life. That's true! It's a lot of our goals in life. You know if you want to get in shape, ifyou want to save money, if you want to, you know, reach a new level, my montresrelentless improvement in life, but you so i'm always trying to look forsomething. I'm always trying to do something better. Bitch you, thehardest part, is to put that. You know...

...that act into motion to push that ball,to get it rolling down the road to make something happen and and get it goingbecause once it's going, it goes. That's why you know people just get comfortable and whatthey do, but if you get comfortable in positive action and you get comfortableand steps that move you forward in life, then you're comfortable and you'removing in the right direction and all fits in together. I i couldn't agree with you more. Italk to people all the time and- and you know i'll talk to anybody sowhether you're right out of college in your actually, i have my first clientfirst client who isn't yet in college. She is she's the daughter of a pliant, wonderful young lady, and she just started her summer job and she came upwith this on her own hey. I can get zero percent student loans, i'm making money. Now.What? If i, what? If i invested that until they start charging me interestright yeah and i was like well well, we can. We could do that. You know you hadto explain the risk and again this is not financial advice. Building right!Yes, this is just ideas worth sharing, so to speak, but she's getting startedand it is it small. Of course it's small, but it's getting started andthen that next thing is kind of my one word that i use is consistency. Ialways talk about consistent and again, like you said it once you have thatinitial inertia and things get moving as long as you do some things that areconsistent along the way. With investing it's consistently investingand its consistent, consistent, good, solid portfolio management, makingsmart decisions with rules based investing. Then it grows over time andthe longer you wait to get started. I...

...like just about anything else it itjust compounds the problem, yeah yeah, but that a lot too and oneof the things that you mentioned there kind of goes in. I i keep looking backat your books there, which you're really cool being up and down timesyou're like it doesn't matter. You know when things aren't going well, how do you do that? Like a and showyour book a ti, you holy written one preston, and so you be teller, so yourway ahead, yeah. So how did we up and down times and this whole book wasformed off of an idea to help people like i do like i get involved in so iwas. Actually. This is cool story. I was me with mitsy produce. So mitsuruco wrote this book with me and i i was meeting with missy and she saying heyprison. I want to write this book and give fifty two ways to stay safe duringovid, because i want to she's like very informational about medical and thingslike that, but she said my attorneys advised me. I can't do that becausei'll get sued you can't get medical advice, nothing's proven it's a newdisease, blah blah blah blah blah, which is sad because the informationshe would have given would help god people, but that's the society we livein. So she couldn't say that, but too much exposure, so adviser said mit y. Ithink people are going to get separated. I think we're going to go in to lockdown, and that obviously happened, but i think people are going to need to usto drive an isolation. You know to be up in isolation said: i love that idea.Let's do it to we collaborated and we put together what came to be how to beup and down times we put forty tools that their tools are applicable foranyone in life to just you know, live healthier, be happier, you know allsorts of different ideas of mind body. You know soul, there's financial ideas, everything in there to keep people to be up in down times to keep thatpositive energy and i'm all about building up people and making peoplepowerful. Like i said in the beginning, and i've got an event coming up calledthe power of you event, which is insane...

...amazing. I've got all these awesomespeakers coming. I've got mark victor hanson, whose chicken super soul booksgot dr john d martini who's. One of the most amazing thought leaders not thati've got jeff hoffman, who start price ling. A bookingam mou bid all thesedifferent businesses. I've got me my mind's blinking, i'm people, i've gotjennifer k hill. I've got the from x prize to xprize funds likethese crazy ideas like let's go to space, you know, do a hundred milliondollars or you know, twenty million dollars to their priors right now is toput out fire suppression and things and i've got meredith. Walker come andspeak so we're coming together with uplifting people, and you know, she'sthe global economist for ex price, but a just insane amazing people. But youknow it's all about building people. So anyone that wants to come check outformula e qom and- and they can, you know, sign up for the event or see whati'm up to. I can support anyone here in reaching their goals or doing anythingthat they want to cheep to formula e qom, yeah and formula eq. So i'm a carnut and so there's like formula one racing but formula e q e q is emotionalintelligence. So it's emotional quotion, like there's iq intellectualintelligence like in sent the eq emotional intelligence, but it's soneeded because, if you're off you know you can't make good decisions, peopleyou know the smartest people fail when they're not emotionally strong whenthey don't have that base. So it's comprehensive to build strong peoplethat are stable and happy that can exist in any type of function. Any typeof society make good decisions, always all the time. So that's my chael is tohelp people in that way. Yeah well that...

...and you've got so. This is coming upwhat date to the twenty second of this month, so this is july is july. Twentysecond, then, third, two day event it's free for anyone who wants to come. Soany of your. You know anyone who sees this yeah, they can come and they cancheck it out and yeah. If you see this after the event, you know check outformulae, qu and we're always doing amazing things in amazing events tosupport people, and apart of the sot right yeah, so it's online global event.I had yeah we on my community. I usually have over twenty countries onmy event, the last one i did we had. You know i like this. We had over sixtyfive hundred people and we put together a lot faster, so this one i actuallythink now, i'm hoping we can hit seven me you well is: i hope we can get together.Six digits, you know an attendance on this event, so i think it's going to begood greatwell, i'm gonna, i'm gonna check it out myself for me a ecm july, twenty second, twenty third yea amazing speakers. So that's fantastic! I'mlooking forward to that. But before we go what's the very best way, is it thebest way for them to get in touch with you through a formula ecm or is theresome other way that they can get in touch with you? So i actually have i'mup to a lot of different things. So i have my company operations xome's mybusiness solutions, company and then formula e qom is my kind of my human,my people company, and but if you want to reach me or you want to see thedeals, i'm up to i'm kind of like an iceberg, i have a lot of projects, alot of big amazing things coming on, so you can go to prestons links, it'sprest and s, wink lan, ks, prestons links, and i usually update that withthe most that's got all my websites on it. I want to be a resource to you and everyone outthere that you know and anyone out there that i can do something with thebetter their life to improve their life, to make better decisions to live ahappier, and i think if we all work on this together and then we can uplifthumanity and make tomorrow a better place to live.
